Christian Marclay’s practice is often related to sounds, music and sound carriers. ‘Carpe Diem’ is a watch ticking in time and place, although different from a regular one. A clock face lacks, instead this artwork has a flat silver reflective face, with ball bearings within, creating a jangling and defunct tik-tok sound.
