When Marijke van Warmerdam was commissioned to make a badge for the IKON Gallery in Birmingham, she based her design on the spots from a cup and saucer she has used for a mobile with rotating photos called Take a break. She compares a working day to a holiday and so she made two badges representing both kinds of days. The printed light reflections on each badge suggest that the circular form is an air bubble. KvG

Margin Scheme
With this plain yellow wallpaper Olivier Mosset continues his exploration of monochromes, a smooth manufactured plane with no more than one colour and its materiality. Although this wallpaper too is meant to be attached to a wall creating a monochrome colour field, here the roll could be looked at as a monochrome sculpture by Olivier Mosset. As a kind of DIY edition quite a few rolls have been used to create a monochrome wall in yellow by Olivier Mosset. Hence quite uncommon.

Collection Lambert opened its doors in June 2000 during the celebrations for ‘Avignon – European Cultural Capital’. With a view to making a future donation, gallerist and collector Yvon Lambert decided to place on loan 350 artworks. Housed in an 18th century mansion, these works are borrowed from his personal collection that at this stage comprises more than 1200 artworks dating from the 1960s to the present day. The event ‘À fripon fripon et demi’ (English translation: ‘How to catch a thief with a thief’) focused on children and their art, with a new room in the museum specially devoted to their work. For the occasion, the Collection Lambert looked back over four years of educational initiatives with projects by On Kawara, Claude Lévêque and Joey Kötting.

An ephemeral image as a kind of mirage is seen when one looks straight into the balls eye. A black and white printed iris is reflected in the mirror at the rear of the glass ball. As a miniaturized image the spiral iris construction is ingeniously appearing with an illusionistic result! Due to a complicated production technique a large part of the limited edition was mis-produced and destroyed, hence more than rare.
