SHEPARD FAIREY, The Future is Unwritten, 2011
42 x 30 inches
produced by Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, New York, USA
Inspired by the aesthetics of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the print shows a flower growing from barbed wire symbolizing hope for the future as the positive overcomes the negative. The phrase “The Future is Unwritten” is a quote from Joe Strummer, musician and advocate for the working class, while “Liberty, Shelter, Equality” refers to the universally important values that we should strive to uphold.
