In 1998 Hreinn Fridfinnsson showed works in the back space of Galerie van Gelder, called AP (Associated Publishers). This second solo exhibition at GvG was called “Collection” referring to the various new works he brought in. For the occasion he changed the gallery’s name into Galerie van Gelder/Another Place, the latter being also the title of a new photo work of an Icelandic landscape by night.
“Journey pictures” were installed in AP by the artist. They come in sets of two (his own luggage labels) and represent, as a pair, a return flight. At the time, Hreinn Fridfinnsson told me that he found it amusing and typical that, as a passenger, you were reduced to a row of stripes.
