Ola Vasiljeva’s “Artful Dodgers” play an enigmatic role in her installations. These are usually spread out over the exhibition floor and together with masks, shoes, cloths, hats, rolled up posters and the like, an atmosphere of a starting tale is created.

In Charles Dickens’s novel “Oliver Twist” (1839), a skilled and savvy pickpocket The Artful Dodger is a precocious streetwise boy who introduces the protagonist Oliver to the thief Fagin and his gang of children, who work as thieves and pickpockets. In the nineteenth century, it was common to use the word dodge to mean “swindle” or “play shifting tricks”.
