When opening this book a knitted hand made malleable object lies hidden inside the pages. In 2011 the introduction of this object book on the website of Buchhandlung Walther König was accompanied with the above beating heart. Very soon the animation was removed from the site.
The book is based on a film by John Bock. It is the story about an insane man who tries to find existential guidance through the humilation of another man – obviously having a financial debt – by pulling a tooth. By means of crazy diagrams attached to the human body and using the little girl Lütte as medium he believes to be able to find the right corrections and justifications. Drawing by artist on inner part of cover.

KRISTJAN GUDMUNDSSON, Drawing in Round Frame, 2011
plexiglass, solid graphite diameter 20 cm / 7.8 inches
edition 20
In Drawing in Round Frame, Kristján Gudmundsson uses solid graphite framed in an unusual manner. For him another way of making a drawing on a wall and here also in a circular frame. As a minimalist he questions the viewer’s senses, as well as the functions and possibilities of making a fundamental drawing.
Kristján Gudmundsson is a pioneer of Icelandic conceptual art, creating intellectually challenging and sometimes humorous artworks that address issues of science, art, and philosophy. A process artist who drills the mediums of drawing and painting down to their bare essentials.

MARIJKE VAN WARMERDAM, Another day, 2011
each 110 x 80 cm
series of 50 unique screen prints, aluminum, framed
With a typically light touch, the work of Marijke van Warmerdam combines a deceptively naïve approach to the act of seeing with straightforward strategies, such as dramatic shifts of scale, doubling, reflection, rhythmic repetition or surprising juxtapositions to urge us to look with our eyes wide open.
In her film loops she depicts perfectly ordinary situations and actions, although factually always staged, with the deliberate use of compositional elements that create an open and unanticipated perspective. In her sculptures, photographic works and paintings, Van Warmerdam is not afraid of using cinematic and visual methods based on animated strategies. In the course of more than two decades she has made a refreshing contribution to the phenomenon of looking.

The image on this bag is a bright reproduction of an embroidery work. Originally Louise Bourgeois embroidered on a handkerchief the text ‘I have been to hell and back. And let me tell you it was wonderful.’ It expresses her opinion that life is a journey with up and downs, and in the end it was worth it. She put this text on her husband’s handkerchief.
In 2007 a handkerchief with the above text was published by Third Drawer Down in a numbered edition of 1000 for each colour; red, blue and pink. It was co-produced by Tate Modern, London.
