Apart from the regular edition of 400 on behalf of a solo exhibition at Kunstverein Hamburg six signed copies with unique drawings were for sale. Each cardboard box came with a felt pen drawing by John Bock made for the occasion.

When opening this book a knitted hand made malleable object lies hidden inside the pages. In 2011 the introduction of this object book on the website of Buchhandlung Walther König was accompanied with the above beating heart. Very soon the animation was removed from the site.
The book is based on a film by John Bock. It is the story about an insane man who tries to find existential guidance through the humilation of another man – obviously having a financial debt – by pulling a tooth. By means of crazy diagrams attached to the human body and using the little girl Lütte as medium he believes to be able to find the right corrections and justifications. John Bock’s stage-like walk-in sculptures constructed from fabrics and junk form the backdrop for his lavish semi-theatrical and semi-improvised performances. Referencing everything from rural life to various half-baked philosophies to the Vienna Actionists, a key influence on Bock, Bock’s performances blend topic fragments from the sciences, arts and the everyday into a volatile and enthralling mixture. The focus here is on the complex relationships between art and the social and between the social and the individual. Laid out in striking collage fashion. John Bock as Gribbohm traces 12 of Bock’s “lectures”, as he terms his performances, with copious illustrations and text by this artist who attempts to make sense of this world by creating one of his own devising.
