Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich produced various posters in 1998, among several ones made by Sylvie Fleury like “Hot wheels” and an XL yellow poster “Life can get heavy, mascara shouldn’t”. Visitors were allowed to take a poster with them home. For this screen print project initiated by the Migros Museum Bob and Roberta Smith made the above iris print poster in red and blue.

Salim Bayri surrounds himself with an alter ego that he calls Sad Ali, a shortening of “sad alien”. This figure has no organs, undertakes no actions and opposite to a cartoon personality he doesn’t talk. As a kind of ambulant search machine he runs around checking out situations and things.
Salim Bayri: ‘I mostly use computer generated images, sound, footage and short actions because of their speed and fluidity.’

Salim Bayri is nominated for the Nationale Nederlanden Group Award 2018. The other nominees:

Oceaan
Het Arnhemse kunstenaarsinitiatief Oceaan startte in de zomer van 1991 de ‘Tentoonstelling per Post’. Onder het motto “Oceaan komt naar U toe!’, had Hester Oerlemans van Oceaan zeefdrukken gemaakt met vier kunstenaars: Rob Birza, Kees Goudzwaard, Annemie van Kerckhoven en Geert de Rooij. Wie deze vier kunstwerken wilde bekijken, hoefde niet naar Arnhem te gaan. Na overmaking van honderd gulden kreeg je ze thuis gestuurd, en daar kon je je eigen tentoonstelling inrichten. “Ik wilde er iets spannends van maken,” vertelde Hester Oerlemans. “Normaal ga je naar een galerie met allerlei verwachtingen, op basis van de uitnodiging, of een affiche. Wij willen die gang van zaken met dit project doorbreken, en de tentoonstelling zo verrassend mogelijk houden. Dus pas als je thuis per post de zeefdrukken hebt gekregen, weet je hoe de tentoonstelling er uit ziet.”

Contrary to many distributed copies this Point d’Ironie (Agnès B.) edition is folded as printed. The distributor was supposed to fold this tabloid size before putting it on display.
Eighteen of the nineteen copies of this stack are in mint condition, i.e. none of them are discoloured as is usually the case, apart from the top one.
