When Thomas Huber in 1989 was commissioned by the Bayerische Hypothek Bank, he proposed to “melt the bank’s capital into soap”. The client declined the honor, after which Huber continued to work on his plan without the bank. He made a large number of paintings, drawings, watercolors and a scale model of the bank. In 1992 he exhibited in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht on the occasion of which an edition was published. The value of things – and therefore art was – questioned and money was turned into soap.
Nevertheless with the sale of the soap edition, soap was converted back into money. KvG

Contrary to many distributed copies this Point d’Ironie (Agnès B.) edition is folded as printed. The distributor was supposed to fold this tabloid size before putting it on display.
Eighteen of the nineteen copies of this stack are in mint condition, i.e. none of them are discoloured as is usually the case, apart from the top one.

Joëlle told me that after the opening of her exhibition ‘Dacht en Nacht Open’ she was informed by Stanley Brouwn that he does not appreciate to be mentioned in exhibitions he does not know about. Joëlle decided to meet his wish by crossing out his name on the posters. Recently she told me that this crossing is a drawing for her and that she would even be willing to sign it as such in case such a crossed poster would pop up somewhere.

General Idea was a collective of three Canadian artists Ronald Gabe (1945–1994), Slobodan Saia-Levy (1944–1994), and Michael Tims (b. 1946). They met in Toronto in 1969, and later took the names Felix Partz, Jorge Zontal and AA Bronson. They started to name themselves as General Idea after they were addressed as such when they proposed an exhibition plan.
This item is extremely well preserved without line folds as is usually the case, due to flat storage in cardboard box and the fact that it was directly purchased from the publisher. See website of MoMA Collection in New York, USA. Felt pen signature is in splendid condition.

This book contains stories about mist seen by the artist in various situations and places. In a plastic sleeve envelope at the back of this artist’s book one finds a very thin bag to be pulled over one’s head, as an added card reads: “Suggestion for a mist walk”.
